CHILD ABDUCTION...

PARENTAL KIDNAPPING & THE HAGUE CONVENTION

Divorce rates continue to rise and our world grows smaller with each leap in technology making international travel commonplace. With these societal changes, a dramatic increase has been seen in child abductions and child kidnappings by custodial and non-custodial parents. The goal of the abductor in such child abduction and parental kidnapping cases is to frustrate court proceedings regarding custody. Political and judicial differences between countries as well as differing societal views on men's and women's role in society make child abduction cases difficult at best. To address growing concerns regarding child abduction, many countries have adopted a treaty designed to expedite the return of children wrongfully removed to their home country. This treaty is called the Hague Convention.

The Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction seeks to curb international abductions of children by providing judicial remedies to those seeking the return of a child who has been wrongfully removed or retained. The Convention provides a simplified procedure for seeking the return of a child to its legal custodian. However, there are limitations to the treaty's application. The Convention applies only between those countries that have adopted it as "Contracting States." Under the treaty, each subscribing state sets up a "Central Authority" to serve as a liaison with the other Contracting States. An aggrieved parent may then file an application with either the Central Authority of the home country or the country where the child is located. Upon application, the Central Authority must take all appropriate measures to discover the whereabouts of the child, prevent harm to the child, protect the interests of the lawful custodian or applicant, and secure the voluntary return of the child.

If a judicial proceeding is initiated, the court must act expeditiously. Article 11 gives the applicant or the Central Authority of the Requested State the right to demand a statement from the court detailing the reasons for delay if a decision has not been made within six weeks from the commencement of proceedings. There need not be a custody decree in effect in order to trigger the return provisions under the Convention.

I love playing video game.I really enjoy it specially when I receive a new video game from my friend.I always ask my friends if they have a new video game and i would copy it and play the game all the time.
I know it's not a good hobby but it better to play a video game than go out without reason.I really enjoy playing different game specially when playing game will give me a feel better.
Because of always playing a video game,it's make me didn't do my revision for my study.
i get a bad result for my exam. That really make me regret but nothing i can do to change my result. but One thing i can do for future is i must change my bad attitude and find a new hobby.

Landslide

Landslides constitute a major geologic hazard because they are widespread, occur in all 50 states and U.S. territories, and cause $1-2 billion in damages and more than 25 fatalities on average each year. Expansion of urban and recreational developments into hillside areas leads to more people that are threatened by landslides each year. Landslides commonly occur in connection with other major natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, wildfires, and floods.

The primary objective of the National Landslide Hazards Program (LHP) is to reduce long-term losses from landslide hazards by improving our understanding of the causes of ground failure and suggesting mitigation strategies.

The LHP has operated since the mid-1970's in gathering information, conducting research, responding to emergencies and disasters, and producing scientific reports and other products for a broadly based user community including geologists and engineers in government, academia and private practice, planners and decision makers from governmental entities at all levels, and the general public.

The results of these efforts have led to significant improvements in understanding the nature and scope of ground-failure problems nationally and worldwide. Such improvements are central to the role of the program, because opportunities remain for fundamental advances in understanding that promise to save lives and dollars.

my funniest moment....

This happen not very long time ago. I’m a very active person and my daily life filled with activities. I love to go shop, jogs around my housing area, gardening with my family and help my sister with their school homework.

As usual, I woke up early for subuh prayer and then jogged near the playground because they have jogging track. But, without any reason, I decided to jog near the football field not far from the abandoned construction area.

I just felt it would be good to jog at new environment instead just stickled at same routine. The football field is quite a big area but to a consistent jogger like me, there would not be a big problem. I ran and ran until I saw a group of fluffy dogs near a bench. I just ignore them.

What I didn’t notice, the dogs were following me around. I started to panic but I tried to act normal. The dogs keep tailing me around which make me felt scared. The dogs started to chased me excitedly which drives me crazy. I started to crying and screaming for help. Luckily when I ran approaching the construction area, there two guys who was also jogging and I ran towards them with tear in my eyes. The two guys were shocked seeing me and they asked me why.

I told them that there was a dog chasing me. When I looked back, there were none of them. Instead of helping to calm my madness after being chased around the area, the two guy just laugh hysterically towards me. I feel so ashamed but a moment later, I joined them laughing. I can’t believe that I ran really fast until the dogs couldn’t chase me anymore

I think that was the funniest, scariest and embarrassing moment that I ever experienced in my life. I really hope I wouldn’t have to gone through the same incident anymore.
